Misool Island, Raja Ampat, part 2

AirPano invites you to an exotic trip: to the Indonesian province of Southwest Papua. Here, as part of the Raja Ampat archipelago, there is the island of Misool - an incredible corner of untouched wild nature.

This is a fairly large island; its area exceeds 2,000 square kilometers. Its name in the language of local people means "port" or "harbor".

Misool Island

Misool is part of the Coral Triangle: this is one of the main coral zones on the planet, the largest center of marine biodiversity and a global priority for conservation. It is called the "Amazonia of the seas" - by analogy with the famous Amazon forests in South America.

The best place for diving

In order to protect corals, sharks, rays, turtles, fish and other underwater inhabitants, the Pulau Misool Nature Reserve was opened in the waters of Misool, a real magnet for divers and scuba diving enthusiasts.

Misool also attracts with its picturesque landscapes: lagoons, caves and hills covered with lush vegetation. Clean beaches are another attraction of the remote island, where there is no mass flow of tourists.
